We began our holiday season with a taste of Christmas back in mid-November. The Nutcracker & The Four Realms debuted in theaters then so we had a cousin movie date. Adelaide is 4 months older than Cooper and Aspen is 5 weeks older than Boston so they are like best cousins to each other! The kids loved the movie and I truly enjoyed seeing a different view of the classic Christmas tale.
In keeping with the holiday movies, I took the older 3 kids to see The Grinch one Friday afternoon. They had a taste of the old movie at my parents' house a few weeks prior and had been on the lookout for the Grinch everywhere. The movie did not disappoint!
We rounded out our holiday movies with the HCC Movie Night watching The Polar Express...complete with popcorn & hot cocoa of course! We also wore our Christmas PJs from last year when we went for a ride to the North Pole!
The Kindergarten class at SMM made the cutest Christmas trees to line up the K hallway. Adelaide picked out all of her supplies and decorated the entire tree herself. She had a vision and saw it through!
I love decorating for holidays. All of them. Yes, all of them. We have an entire storage area dedicated to housing the color coded bins. That is how much I love to decorate. So Christmas to me is the mecca of all decor. I have dreams of different themed trees filling the house with merry & bright. This year we added two trees to our collection! They are so magical. The kids helped decorate them both making it extra special and even more fun. I have my eye on a gingerbread themed & a Nutcracker themed tree next year ;)

Holidays are one of my favorite times because I love to dress the kids in fun festive outfits. We had lots of new outfits, ones from last year, and even some for baby Salem that Adelaide once wore. Those make the moments (and pictures!) all the more special!
When we used to live in New York, one of our traditions while visiting Louisville was attending the Galt House Christmas complete with Tea & Snow Fairies. They did away with that event a few years ago which was so disappointing. This year I noticed that they had Elfapalooza instead. Adelaide was at The Nutcracker with Mimi so I decided to take the boys. It was so cute! A ride on the Peppermint Express followed by cookies & hot cocoa. Then a showing of the movie ELF for some festive entertainment. They even got their very own elf hats and got to play reindeer game ;) The kids had a blast and the event was free! They suggest toy donations for Marine For Tots so we grabbed a few crafty gifts plus some fun board games and helped kids in need. Brighton helped me shop for the toys and in some way, he understood that we were helping. Both boys were so excited to set the presents in the box for other little boys & girls. We continue to build on the true meaning of Christmas which I am enjoying so much.
We had a blast Elfing our family one evening. We hopped in the car and I graced the kids with their first viewing of Home Alone. We drove from house to house sneaking our little bags of cheer onto front porches. My little elf helpers were excited to ring door bells and race back to the car with glee. I heard numerous times, "Go Mom Go!" as a directive to speed off. They were equally as excited to watch Kevin's plan be executed and the bandits go down. It was a really fun evening of good ole' fashion Christmas cheer!
Sparky the Elf has been up to some seriously mischievous fun this year. He has been all over the house showing off his Christmas spirit. This year he even brought back his reindeer from the North Pole! The kids named him Magic which is so fitting. I loved it the moment they chose that name. It has been a joy to watch them each morning search the house high & low looking for Sparky. Then to see the amazement in their eyes once they see what he has been up to. This has added a new level of holiday spirit to the house!
Wishing you all the joy of this holiday season!
