The Thompson Christmas Bucket List: Sing Christmas Carols
We are always spreading holiday cheer through singing Christmas carols around our house. We have Michael Buble's holiday CD on repeat as soon as Thanksgiving day is over. But last year we decided to take part in our first ever St. Margaret Mary Christmas play. It was a beautiful way for the kids to hear the story of Jesus' birth and Adelaide made a wonderful angel. This year Aspen joined in as one of God's animal creations and he was in seventh Heaven being with big sister. The two of them attended all of the practices and worked hard to learn the new songs as the new script indicated. A Lamb's Tale was a huge hit among the children and another neat perspective to see/hear on Christmas Day! We celebrated their performance with a family dinner at HCC.
We also enjoyed spreading joy to the elderly at Jefferson Place through ornament making and caroling. We met up with our HCC swim team friends to sip hot cocoa & munch on cookies while decorating ornaments for the residents. Then we caravaned over to sing our hearts out.
But perhaps my favorite caroling of all each year is the musical plays each of the kids puts on at school. Adelaide's Kindergarten program was The Littlest Reindeer and the kids worked hard to learn their roles with Ms. Moth guiding them. Aspen sang his sweet songs about Jesus' birthday and the joy of Christmas. And Brighton learned a few new songs expressing what the season is all about.
I love that the kids are surrounded by those who love them and help them to learn about the true meaning of Christmas!
