Memory (2000) EIGHT: Chi Town Summer

Memory Eight: Chicago Summertime

Moving to Chicago in the dead of winter was not my finest idea. Although it did feature a lot of two for one shots at McGees to keep warm. A lot of bar crawls with flowing drinks. Clubby nights with bottle service and dancing. Ok so it wasn't so bad.

All that apprehension about the winter was washed away once the summer of '08 appeared. You see there is this little place called Castaways. It might be my favorite place on earth. On the beach. Live music. Swimsuits. Tan bodies. Cold beers. Happy faces. Sunshine. You get the picture.

Benny, Mark, Marquette, Varner, Rupika, & I frequented this fine establishment often. In fact, I am quite sure I went every single weekend. Generally Saturday & Sunday. But most definitely Sundays.

Then there is this thing called the Chicago Scene Boat Party. Yeah a huge party on boats. Lots of them. Tied together. With DJs and slides and inner tubes. Where we played Chris Brown's Forever on repeat for 9 straight hours and danced like we were hearing it for the first time every time.

Lets not forget the amazing CUBS games at Wrigleyville. The pre & after dance parties at John Barleycorn. The bouncer was our bff. Meaning we got to skip the line. Classic.

Summer 2008 in Chi was a mini extension of college. A much needed time for fun, fun, fun out in the sun. And don't worry, I got the hell out of dodge before winter number two came around ;)
