Special Testing

Despite my birthday being on the 18th, I used the 17th as a pamper myself day. I booked a relaxing prenatal massage and facial in the am before we headed to our special testing appointment for baby T. I thought it would be a nice way to have me relaxed before drawing blood!

We pulled up to the hospital at noon and entered two different entrances before figuring out where we were actually going. Talk about reversal on the massage. Ugh. Finally we reached the main wing and checked in for the appointment. As we waited in the solarium with the family members of new babies, so many things started to become real. Mt. Kisco Medical Center is where I will be delivering so I started to imagine our families sitting around & waiting in a few months.

After a few minutes, we were called back to the exam room. The nurse plopped me up on the table and instructed me to prep for an ultrasound. I was ecstatic to be getting one because my sister thought it would just be drawing blood. I am not showing one ounce so the ultrasounds reassure me that there is indeed a live person growing inside me. The baby has grown immensely in the past 3 1/2 weeks since my last doctor's appt. He/she has legs and arms and all sorts of little features. Even a little nose! We were finally able to hear the heartbeat (we've only seen it in our previous ultrasounds). I began to cry on point after hearing how strong and healthy the heartbeat of our baby was.

Now for the uncomfy part, she pricked my finger and proceeded to squeeze some samples of blood. I figure I need to get used to this doctor/hospital/pain thing if I want to be able to deliver my child ;) Pending the results of my blood work (which we will know sometime next week), everything from the ultrasound looked perfect according to the doc. Phew what great news and such a relief!

Here is a peek at our precious baby T:
