Death of a Doornail

You may remember that lengthy bucket list that Ryan & I worked so diligently on while living in LA. You know the one that included hiking giant mountains, taking lavish vacas, and seeing a range of cultural exhibitions. While we haven’t been dormant in our social life since moving to San Fran, we sort of fell off our own bucket list bandwagon accidentally (blame it on the 6 weddings and their all encompassing events we have attended this year ;) ).

So when I spotted this killer (no pun intended) groupon offer for 2 tickets to the Marin Murder Mystery I just had to get it. Murder Mystery Dinner was one of my first items on our bucket list when we made it back in January 2010. And with it being almost Halloween, I figured October 29th was a great date to go.

The instructions said to assume an alias so I took it upon myself to purchase a hot little black wig and feathered boa to “look the part.” I instructed Ryan to do the same so he promptly busted out his 1970’s leisure suit and matching faux suede loafers. We headed up north, over the Golden Gate Bridge to Joe’s in San Rafael.

As soon as we entered, I spotted Ms. Scarlett & Professor Plum. While sipping a cocktail at the bar, several suspects began entering the establishment including Mrs. Peacock & Mr. Green. We were eventually escorted by Mr. Mortimer and Mrs. Mortiford to our seats for appetizers. After asking a few investigatory questions to our surrounding table mates, salads were served and the play was on its way.

Mrs. Abigail Doornail

Investigator and Priscilla

We quickly became acquainted with the Doornail family & friends: daughter Priscilla, wife Abigail, nephew Edward, stripper Candy, gangster Carbone, the butler, and the maid. Between acts, our pasta course and main entrees were served with a packet of clues regarding the mystery.  During dessert, the mystery was solved....

I solved the crime!

It was PRISCILLA!

Four of us in the audience guessed the correct killer. I was one of them ;) Happy to know that my Criminal Minds/Without A Trace TV watching has finally paid off!
