Family Happenings & Family Times

Whenever we go back home for a non-family event, we do our best to spend as much time with both families as possible. It certainly helps that our families get along and enjoy each other's company making most visits a group outing (i.e. girls lunch, bbq, pool party, family dinner, etc).

Our intent was to do a big Collins/Thompson evening on Thursday night at Avalon before we headed to P-town. The Lord had some other plans and a few things to attend to on the Thompson side so we ended up making it a Collins dinner. Taylor even surprised us all by driving up from Lex for the evening.

Baby Collins & I

Bishop boy!

Per the usual, we enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. A little bickering but  mostly laughs for the bunch. Avalon is one of our favorite places, and the owners are our great friends the Clements family. They are so wonderful and would do anything for you. Those are the best kind of friends to have.

On the back end, we had a nice lunch with the Thompson clan. Lots of big things happening with that side of the fam. MT (Ryan's mom) had emergency surgery Thursday morning to remove cancer in her eye lid. Aside from the fact that she looks a bit like a pirate, she is in good spirits and they believe all of the cancer has been removed. She whipped up the Sunday lunch for us so she is mobile and eager to fully recover.

We are also impatiently waiting the arrival of our new nephew Kendahl. We had high hopes that he was making his debut into the world while we were home, but he played the stubborn card. He should be born this week, God-willing.

On a sadder note, Amanda's (my sister-in-law) grandpa passed away Saturday morning. He had Parkinson's disease and took a turn for the worst late last week. She drove up to Michigan Friday evening in hopes of spending a few hours with him. Please keep her in your prayers as well as her family, Mr. & Mrs. Coates.

Despite the shortness of our visit with family, we enjoyed the quality of time and look forward to celebrating with everyone in a few short months on 11-11-11!
