Where did we leave off? Ah, yes in Skagway!
Day 5: Skagway
Highlights include: venturing threw the
gold rush turned abandon town courtesy of our comedian bus driver,
dog mushing Alaskan summer style with
16 little pooches raring for fun, sipping hot cocoa while nurturing a little newborn pup, and our newfound happy hour spot aka "The Card Room"...Go Fish?

Day 6: Glacier Bay
Highlights include: pitstopping in the ole' ice age and scenically maneuvering around ice chunks and falling icicles, a much needed nap on the lawn chair at the Lotus pool, an even more needed workout, wine tasting in the Bordeaux room, formal night #2 complete with a new dress, and a winning of
32 cents from the casino

Day 7: College Fjord
Highlights include: more icebergs with a touch of sea creatures such as whales and seals, dessert bar extravaganza to ensure that my workout the previous day was compromised, souvenirs such as cruise picture prints &
Ziggy the woodpecker, and a midnight shuffleboard game because we could...literally the sun was still up

Day 8: Whittier to Anchorage to Denali
Highlights include: docking at land where I felt like I was still rocking while walking, the ever so bright logo of
Yogurtland in the Anchorage airport (which of course I indulged in prior to getting our sweet rental car), having a 2011 blue Camaro with white racing stripes as our rental car, a not-so-seemless
four 6 hour drive to
Denali, breathtaking hike around the Savage River Trail, wildlife known as a black bear and moose scurring across the road, the peak of
Mt. McKinley, snuggling in cozy cabin #22 at the
Denali River Cabins & Cedars Lodge, and finishing the day with an ice cold brew & an all-American cheeseburger

Day 9: Anchorage
Highlights include: a seemless 3 1/2 hour drive back to the Anchorage airport, effortless rental car return + check-in + security line, the recognition that I was indeed having
Yogurtland two days in a row, last minute gift purchase for the niece & nephew, and the realization that Ryan & I were going home
together making my little heart swoon just like the first time he kissed me

Ok I'm loving the ice pics! Beautiful! Looks like you had a blast! :) So fun!
ReplyDeleteWe hiked Savage River and a few other trails in Denali. We also hiked Glacier Bay, which was actually my favorite. So beautiful! Your trip looked amazing! So jealous of your mushing experience.
ReplyDeleteWe really had a blast! I want to go back and do more hiking in Denali. Maybe Mt. McKinley ;)
