Over The Rainbow: Unicorn Salem Is One

We had the most magical day celebrating Salem Lucille turning ONE! Right before she was born, unicorns were all the rage and everywhere I went they appeared. I wanted a birthday theme that was not too baby-ish but was fun & whimsical. Something that captured the beauty of her and the journey that led us to her. So with all of these unicorns and rainbows capturing my attention, I decided it was the perfect theme for her first birthday party. After all, she is a rainbow baby and she radiates magical life.

The decorations were magical and glittered the “fields” perfectly. From the front door wreaths to the personalized banners to the rainbows and unicorn pumpkins, the magic of Salem touched everyone. And of course there were life size unicorns to see!

With a brunch time party, guests indulged in donuts & rainbow sprinkled muffins to cure their sweet tooth. We had rainbow fruit cups and rainbow veggies. Unicorn sandwiches and chips & dip.

And of course cake! Sweets by Millie did a phenomenal job creating this masterpiece!

The weather was cool, crisp and sunny for her birthday brunch. So we were able to have some fun outdoor activities including a color scavenger hunt, pin the horn on the unicorn, and unicorn pony rides! (Thanks to Aunt/Godmother Amanda & Uncle Shane!)

For goodie bags, I found some super cute unicorn horn headbands, mini unicorn toys, unicorn notepads, and unicorn & rainbow paint kits for the girls. For the boys, I traded the headbands for little nerf darts, slime, & colorful cars.

The celebration of Salem’s first birthday is another moment that ends an era. The last first birthday party we celebrate of our children. I like to think I continue to savor those moments, making mental note of  the details and feeling the love & fun of it all.

Her birthday party was truly magical just like the journey that led us to her and just like her true personality. I hope she always finds luck & love & magic at the end of every rainbow!

Thank you to those who helped us celebrate Salem Lucille and her magical first year!
