Weekend Treats: Thompson Visit Edition

The Thompsons arrived Friday afternoon for a 10 day visit. I, of course, created an extensive list and timeline of house projects as well as fun adventures for the 4 of us during their tenure. I specifically like to take advantage of out-of-town guests coming to get us out of the house for meals. We do some much dining at home especially for dinner so I take these opportunities to explore the neighborhood's finest.

Friday we simply relaxed before heading to dinner at Goldfish, a place I had been hearing about since moving to Ossining. Tucked away in a quaint little neighborhood, the restaurant is in an old cottage. The blue awning and lighted sidewalk set the mood right away. Filled with fish tanks, sea-life decor, and a swanky blue-lit bar, not to mention the pianist who softly plays on weekend nights. All of that would have been enough...

But to boast, the food was amazing. I thoroughly enjoy seafood particularly during the summer months.  Something about a plate of fresh oysters and fried calamari to start followed by a bowl of NE clam chowder to clean the palate, topped off with jumbo shrimp and veggies soothes my soul (**don't worry I skipped the oysters!) Three of us enjoyed the same meal while Nana ventured out with the sea bass entree. For dessert, we all shared a family-style platter of fresh fruit, chocolate mousse, and cheesecake.

Ambience + delicious meal + family = the perfect start to the weekend!

Saturday morning some of us woke up early...and the some did not include my husband...for a gourmet breakfast of mini frittatas on the deck. The weather was just cool enough to be pleasant and warm enough to enjoy the view.

Then we got to work. By work I mean Pops started stripping wall paper while Nana and I felt like two dummies putting together the swing and pack n' play...

This child better L.O.V.E. these two devices for the sheer fact of the labor of love they took to put together. Thank the Lord Wimbledon was on to distract me from becoming beyond frustrated.

Rewarding everyone for their hard day of work, I whipped up an all-American dinner of burgers, corn on the cob, and sweet potato fries. By dinner time, the temp had cooled and we were able to enjoy our deck again for this glorious meal.

You know what comes next...

...dessert at Blue Pig of course!

Sunday we divdided to conquer. Nana & I had a girls day out with breakfast at The Patio followed by coffee on the porch of Moonbean Cafe. Then we headed to church before doing a little shopping.

The boys were slaves to painting...

Finishing up the day being Suzy Homemaker, I whipped up a new recipe courtesy of Pinterest.

What did you do to spice up or sweeten your weekend?!
