In college, I'd come home to spend 30% of my time with family and 70% with my friends. Then in grad school, it shifted to 45% family and 55% friends. When I moved out west, it crept to 55% fam and 45% homies. As my grandparents slowly became more ill and near death, an increase to 63% family and 37% friends. Throwing nieces & nephews into the mix, my time found itself proportioned at about 75% kiddos and 25% pals. Now as we attempt to start our own family, I find myself spending 90% of my time with my family and a mere 10% with my friends (when I'm home in KY).
If you would have asked me to foresee this at any point, I would have thought you were off your rocker. But I honestly can't think of anything better than to have shifted how I spend my time here in the bluegrass state. And most of the time we find ourselves doing nothing but spending time together.

We like to take walks with the girls and the dogs. Apparently we have a professional dog walker in the making...
Often times I like to destroy my brother-in-law, Peter, in Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy (he is snarling at me as I type). Ok maybe sometimes he beats me too.

I also like to take my nephew on one-on-one dates. Sometimes it is to play with other kids. Or to the movies. Or to a sporting event. I just enjoy the alone time we get to spend together because those are his sweetest moments and ones that I cherish most.

And sometimes it is fun to just observe as they grow into their own personalities...
