What To Wear At The Airport

Bedazzles After Dark let's me us know how to travel comfortably and fashionably!

Hi Witty Whit readers! I am so thrilled to Guest Post for WWW while Whit is off on her Alaska Cruise. In honor of Whit's trip and all of her travels I thought I would do a fab fashion post on Airport Style and in true BAD fashion - affordable options! I know what you're thinking - airplanes are places for sweatpants, tracksuits and running sneakers. No No No! You can still find comfortable traveling clothes and look stylish at the same time - I promise. Need some suggestions...? I thought you might!

Sienna Miller showcases an excellent travel outfit. This is probably one of my favorite things to wear when flying. It's the best kind of outfit if your plan ride is less than 4 hours (Example: if you're flying from LAX to JFK). Due to all the security regulations you want to make sure your shoes are easy to slip off and put back on. Flats are the perfect solution and they look good on anyone. Stretchy dark denim is another way to keep comfy without sweatpants being involved (bonus trend points if they're cropped!) I love how she pairs a crisp white button up with a chunky knit sweater. Running into a meeting or meeting friends for drinks when you land? Just peel off the sweater and you're good to go!

Another fabulous jeans and sweater option. Normally I'm not a big fan of heels at the airport. You never know when your gate may change and you have to run to the other side of the terminal. But Rachel Bilson's Coach Liana lace up wedge boot are definitely a great choice if you want a practical shoe with a little height. Plus wedges are one of the best support options for your feet! Another key element for travel: Sunglasses. Options like Rachel and Sienna's are wearable on the plane, hiding those dark I-got-up-at-4-AM circles, and act as a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Add dark denim, a cable knit sweater and an oversized tote and you're on your way to take off!

If you're flying internationally or just on a long flight, this would be an easy, fuss-free outfit that would still leave you looking stylish without sacrificing comfort. Blake Lively arrived at LAX pairing black leggings with an oversized camel colored Autumn Cashmere sweater and studded boots. Leggings are fabulous option when you want a breathable material and not the constraints of jeans. A crucial part of dressing for travel is layering. The temperature in airplanes and Airports are in a constant state of flux. Be prepared by wearing thin layers that you can easily peel off when the mercury rises. Remember to wear minimal jewelry (like Blake's pendent) and add a cute hat to polish off your look.

Jessica Biel rounds out the last of our options by marrying all three of the above into one. Her chic flat boots are easy to take off when going through security. Her black denim is trendy while a lightweight t-shirt paired with a coat keeps things cozy on or off the plane. Another basic necessity when traveling? A scarf. This key accessory can be worn to keep your neck warm and double as a pillow or blanket when catching a quick cat nap on the plane. Lastly - keep your purses functional. Either use an oversize tote that can hold many items or a crossbody bag which will keep your arms and hands free.

I hope I provided you guys with some great travel fashion tips as well as affordable buys! Remember these are styles that any fashionista can achieve. Not just celebrities! Happy Traveling!

  1. Great post! I think far too many people show up to the airport in their pajamas. Thanks for showing these people that you CAN look fashionable and be comfortable at the same time. Option #2 is my favorite.

  2. Loved this post! I never understood how all of these other girls could look so cute while traveling. Win always makes fun of the "homeless person" he travels with on a consistent basis (aka me!) so I've taken your suggestions to heart. Thanks Nikki!
