Everyone's got it. In Kentucky that is. You can see it from about mid-March on. As the opening weekend of Keeneland approaches, people start to get the itch. The itch for big hats, fancy dresses, galloping ponies, tri-fecta boxes, and great bourbon.

I adore Derby despite having missed the past 8 out of 10 years. I still try to honor the tradition despite being far from the track of Churchill Downs. Even so much that our rehearsal dinner is Kentucky Derby themed (insert reason to purchase a big hat since we are skipping the technical festivities this year!). As I've mentioned, it was a real treat to see some festive hats when I was home visiting baby Collins as well as through the rich British tradition during the hype towards the Royal Wedding.
