The Thompson Fall Bucket List: Pick Pumpkins from a Patch

One of our favorite falls traditions is to pick pumpkins from a patch because who doesn't love a day of adventure out on the farm! The past two years we have ventured to Gallrein for our pumpkin picking with not much luck. One year the harvest had been less than ideal and squashed pumpkins awaited us. The following year we arrived too late so had to forego the patch and instead grab pumpkins from the market area. But this year, we found the perfect day to enjoy the entire experiences at the patch!

We had gorgeous weather including sunshine & a fall breeze. We took a ride out on the hay tractor to a patch filled with the best pumpkins. All sizes, all shapes, all colors. The kids got to moving and explored pumpkin by pumpkin. They inspected every inch of one before committing to it and at the end of the journey, we had ourselves a little patch to take home! The delight in their eyes and the smiles on their faces made for one happy mommy heart. This was the perfect pumpkin patch picking that we all needed to experience this year :)

Of course we played a few games along the way too. The super fun slide, the bouncey bean bags, and the tractor race track were some of our favorites. And no trip to Gallrein is complete without a stop in the market to get pumpkin donuts & apple cider. The entire day was a treat for us all and we are so glad we were able to continue our traditions!
