Grateful.Thankful.Blessed: Thanksgiving 2019

For the first time in 7 years, we opted to stay in town for Thanksgiving. When Ryan & I got married, we were away on our honeymoon for the holiday so it became a family tradition to go on our own little family vacation during Thanksgiving. I had always paired it with our anniversary and stayed along the lines of the traditional or modern gift theme. By the time my creative brain caught up this year, where we wanted to go was booked. So we went with "plan B" which was a super relaxing, stay-at-home mostly, visit a few Louisville staples kind of holiday.

We embraced Thanksgiving all month long, starting our day by each saying something we were thankful for. We had plenty of turkey treats and talked a lot about food as well as hunger across the globe. We made treats for classmates noting what characteristics we are thankful for in them. We enjoyed classroom feasts with friends sharing our favorite foods and ice cream toppings. We saw Frozen 2 which spoke about the importance of family and faith. We made an Advent wreath at St. Margaret Mary to prepare us for the season of the birth of Jesus which we are forever grateful for His sacrifice. We gathered with family to show our love and gratitude for one another.

On Black Friday, we showed our children the history and staple of our great city: Churchill Downs. We toured the Derby Museum and all of its wonder throughout the years. We watched horse races and the excitement in the kids' eyes as they saw the rich history that Louisville lives by. To share that experience with our children and watch the joy in them was something I will cherish and be thankful for all time.
