August Date: A Day at Playland Amusement Park & Apps/Drinks at Rye Grill & Bar

For our August date, I wanted to put a little thrill in the mix. Knowing that Adelaide would be almost one for this event, I thought Rye Playland would be a super fun afternoon for the three of us. We went there for the Gavin DeGraw concert shortly before she was born where I spied Kiddyland equipped with tons and tons of rides for little people. It is also the oldest amusement park in America (founded in 1928) and sits along the water with picturesque views.

So after lunchtime, we headed south for an afternoon of roller coasters carousels and hot dogs. Kiddyland had a lot of options for infant appropriate rides accompanied by a parent. Ryan & I decided to take turns riding along while the other snapped photos. Adelaide was all smiles for each ride. The train, the antique cars, and the carousel. She can't wait to tackle the mini scrambler, kiddy whip, and the himalaya next year!

Because every other date has had some sort of food & drink component, I had to include Rye Grill & Bar. We found this gem on our first trip to NY while house hunting. It has been a place that we have often returned to for lunch, dinner, or drinks. The outside porch is precious and the perfect setting for a summer night. So the three of us grabbed a table for some refreshments post amusement park.

Ryan enjoyed an IPA. I enjoyed a glass of Sterling Chardonnay. We shared the crab cakes & 4-layer dip. Adelaide entertained herself with the two boys at our neighboring table: one 3 months old and one 2 years old.

We had a nice little family Saturday that ran about as smoothly as it gets. Just perfect enough to make us think we have this whole parenting thing down ;)
