50/50

A satire comedy about the preciousness of life. A young man who takes all precautions to avoid death gets diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at age 27. His girlfriend leaves him. He shuts his parents out. His best friend uses his condition to pick up chicks.

Seth Rogen stars as Kyle, the awkward friend, who uses comical relief to cheer up his best pal Adam when he gets diagnosed with cancer. Adam, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, rises to the occasion as a polite, neurotic 20-something struggling with his fate. (Angelica Houston) Diane, Adam's controlling & over protective mother, adds an interesting dynamic that looks at how children often shut out their parents in trying times. (Anna Kendrick) Dr. Katherine, the new therapist who counsels cancer patients, is your typical girl who falls in love while tripping over herself attempting to be professional yet human. And let's no forget Mitch & Alan who give you another look into those suffering from cancer. This pair goes through chemo with Adam and become fast friends.

If you want a flick that marries comedy with substance, 50/50 is perfect. It might even stop and make you think about how you live your days. It might just inspire you to do those life adventures you have been putting off.
