In my opinion, there's not a lot of things that a good glass of vino and the laughter of friends can't cure. Something about that chilled glass of Kendahl Jackson Chardonnay puts me into a more relaxed mood instantly. Additionally, the sillyness generated by girl talk creates a happy place if only for a moment in time.
Lately, I have been feeling the strain of not getting enough girl time as I typically have had in the past. Perhaps that is in part due to my 9 to 5 job and the lack of roommates. Being in a sorority meant never having to be without a girlfriend. Grad school meant instantaneously being around some girls due to classes. Moving home was easy...I have a mom and two sisters and we all talk A LOT. Chicago was comforting because Marquette moved with me. San Diego didn't pose too much of a challenge because I had a flexible work schedule and a female roommate.
Living in LA has made it a challenge to find friends. I work a big girl job. I live alone. I am in love and often opt to spend the majority of my time with my sweet (which I am NOT complaining about at all!). I am not able to indulge in the many activities that I once was able to.
Luckily, Shana made a visit to LA this weekend and gave me a little fix of ladies night. Nothing extraordinary happened last night. We moved from room to room in my little apartment as we folded laundry, straightened the mess made by my weekend house guests (Mark, JJ, & Varner are never allowed back), cleaned dishes, packed for Kentucky, and read our books. But we sipped on 2 Buck Chuck and caught up on each other's lives. We laughed a lot. We exhausted our silly/crazy thoughts to one another. We spoke very freely, quickly, and excitedly. We discussed family, relationships, faith, roommates, career, and the Lord.
And I awoke refreshed having had my fill of girl time.
**Note I am still in need of a girls' getaway...ladies?
