The Thompson Christmas Bucket List: Go Ice Skating

A few Thanksgivings ago, the kids went ice skating for the first time at The Greenbrier. They had a blast and became obsessed. When Adelaide took dance, the studio was on top of the skating rink Iceland so the boys would watch the skaters and the big ice truck smooth the surface. It was the highlight of their day then. We have been ice skating in Colorado and last year at Light Up St. Matthews.

So ice skating has made its way to our official Christmas Bucket List for now. I promised them we would again go to Light Up St. Matthews for some ice skating but it ended up being cancelled due to weather. This kids were bummed and I had to keep my promise so we headed to Alpine Skate for a little afternoon fun.

Ice skating with 4 kids solo was tricky to say the least. But we met the nicest, most helpful people who took Brighton around, helped Aspen up from falls, and gave Adelaide the courage to let go of the wall. Salem was as happy as a clam, and she was itching to skate her way across the rink.

The joy and wonder in the kids eyes was very special. There is something about ice skating that makes you feel like a carefree kid again, and I loved experiencing that with the kiddos!
