Twirling Into Four: Celebrating Our Ballerina Salem Lu

Want to see the cutest thing ever? Plan a ballerina themed birthday party for a 4 year old girl. Miss Jae rocked it by giving Salem and her friends & cousins.

They danced, they giggled, they hugged. They had an indoor picnic lunch, ate delicious cupcakes, & opened presents. Then they danced some more.

It was definitely a birthday party filled with sweet memories and lots of twirling ballerinas 🩰

A Thompson Fall: Go To A Football Game

Since the kids are getting older, I thought a fun item to add to our fall bucket list would be attend a football game. The plan was to head down to Lexington and catch a UK game; show the kids the campus, stay for 1/2 the game and see some of my former SHA tennis players while there too.

But then UK started having an amazing season with W after W and the opportunity to find tickets was getting harder & harder. Coupled with our ever busy fall weekends here at home, we weren’t able to get to tickets for the date we could make Lexington work.

Then I realized we had our own all star football player right at home and watching the Mustangs play flag football each Sunday all fall had been the best way to check that off the fall bucket list.
Their team went 5-3 on the season and showed tremendous growth. They each practiced hard weekly & improved on the field. They showed amazing camaraderie & constantly cheered each other on. Our coaches were so dedicated and really made it a fun-filled season!

Salem Lucille: 4 Years Old

 Dearest Salem Lucille,

Oh my sweet girl it doesn’t seem possible that you are four years old. I can still remember becoming pregnant with you, cherishing that journey with you; finding out that you were indeed a girl! Then welcoming you into this crazy world and this great big family that was over the moon excited to meet you.

You are such a big girl, always watching & learning & growing. You love to mimic your big siblings by packing your lunch, doing “homework”, having your own sports schedule & decorating your own room.

You are my little sports girl~ playing tennis & golf, swimming like a fish & twirling like a ballerina. You are eager to listen and learn from your coaches, and you like to check your daily calendar to see “what do I have today mom.”

You love school...your teachers, your friends, early birds & lunch bunch. It is so fun to hear you report on your day, telling me about nature walks, ghost paintings, playground shenanigans & more.

You are so much fun my little Salem Lucille, and I hope that you always stay as sweet & as sassy as you are today.

I love you!

Love,

Mommy

A Thompson Fall: Pick Pumpkins From A Patch

Picking pumpkins from the patch is one of our all time favorite fall activities. I can still remember all the patches & all the pumpkin pictures of the kids when they were babies we would venture to during our time in New York. The way their eyes still light up at the pumpkins~ big, small, orange, white, green, bumpy, dusty, clumpy & smooth. It is such a magical time when we go to pick those pumpkins. This year we headed to Gallrein on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We rode the carousel, went through the corn maze, jumped in hay, rode the choo choo train, dared to be spooked in the Haunted House, and so much more. What a perfect fall day to spend with family!
