My Derby winning pick. Or so I have my fingers crossed for ;)
I'd like to say I choose my horses by their statistical information because I am a horse racing connoisseur of some sort. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I do know how to read the microprinted guide in a $2 program you purchase at tracks; but those stats have never served me in terms of betting. So I'll just stick to picking the names I am drawn to.
With a pretty intense line-up of phenomenal names (i.e. Pants on Fire, Midnight Interlude, Decisive Moment, Watch Me Go, Stay Thirsty, and Twice the Appeal...not to mention Shackleford the last name of Aunt Ellen & Uncle Ken), I fluttered just a tad while picking. However, they always say to go with your gut right? Thus Dialed In it is.
A few notable facts about this little gem:
Trainer: Nick Zito. Read: always a viable candidate for a Derby winner.
Owner: LaPenta. Read: his horse took second place at last year's Run for the Roses; no one has more motivation than 2nd place
2011 Record: Undefeated (in major events). Read: he's won the Floriday Derby as well as the Holy Bull both held at Gulfstream Park.
Colors: Crimson & Gold. Read: those of the Trojan Warrior; enough said in itself.
