40 Before 40: Go to a UK Basketball Game at Rupp

I’ve been a UK fan all my life, as far back as I can remember. My love started with my early childhood babysitter Natalie and quickly grew into an obsession. I can remember hiding in my basement for the 1996 UK/Duke Round of 16 game. Then siting on top of my kitchen counter in a sweat when they played the championship game.

Many of my closest friends in college played on the basketball team~ Adam Chiles, Josh Carrier & Chuck Hayes. Chuck actually used to love to sing Boyz II Men songs to Jacky & I in our door room. We bonded over student-athlete life and all that comes with it.

I was at the 2012 National Championships game when we defeated UL in the final four and then took down UConn handily. A trio of a lifetime.

As I’ve become an adult, I’ve had the privilege of watching so many UK teams~ phenomenal athletes carrying so many hopes & dreams of Kentuckians on their backs.

But at the end of the day, there is no place like Rupp Arena!

40 Before 40: Take 2 Barre Classes Per Month

Throughout all of my pregnancies, I did 3 to 5 barre classes per week. Once Salem arrived I sort of fell off the wagon with a lack of childcare & time. The Barre Method brought such core strength, toning, and overall good health to my mind & body. Over the last few years, I definitely noticed the effects of not going. So I set out to commit to 2 classes per month from age 39 to {almost} age 40. And man did it help me immensely. I feel stronger, fitter, and more toned. But mostly, I feel more mental clarity. There is such accomplishment in pushing yourself to get one more rep or find that shake. I can't wait to keep this up in my 40's!

Ringing in the New Year: 2022 to 2023

We spent the end of 2022, beginning of 2023 with family & friends. A fancy pajama party complete with games for kids and adults alike. We toasted to the joy of 2022 and to good fortune & fun in 2023. We also had the excitement of Aspen closing out the year with a big tennis tournament at our home club. It was truly a great way to end and begin this season of life!
