Home Makeover: Before and After (Take Two)

It has been a few months since my original post with our home improvements so I thought an update was in order. It might not seem like much progress has been made from the pictures, but I can tell you that this houseewife feels 110% better and more accomplished.

Remember this:

We dressed it up with a buffet, shell-like mirror, and some decor to the entryway.

Notice the tables, shaggy rug, and beachy accents. We're working on a piece of furniture for the nook and need to get the TV mounted. Oh and don't mind the missing shadow box and additional picture frames...remember that melt down from a few weekends ago? Still working on it...

We added a glass kitchen table with 6 chairs. Ryan painted the corner cabinet to make it a true accent piece. I added the rustic chalkboard for fun. And I love the enlarged, framed recipe in my Mama Collins' handwriting.

We added an accent table, a piece of art work, and DIY crafts for color. I've picked out the window treatments and am on the hunt for a rug plus one more  piece of art.

I found this antique desk to add a bit of vintage to the sitting room. With a few framed keepsakes, the room feels even more historic and sentimental (the Paris skyline frame will be colored mahogany). Still needs a rug and a key piece of furniture, but its shaping up nicely.

Stay tuned for more house updates soon!

Thompson Family Baby Shower

You know you're attending a baby shower when a) the guest of honor is not drinking, b) attendees oh & ah over butt cream, c) butt cream was an item on your registry, and d) the mom-to-be eats her weight in cupcakes & candy.

That is what I meant when I recapped the weekend treats by saying it was a *different* shower. Different. And incredibly exciting, special, amazing, so on and so forth.

My SIL and MIL threw a fabulous baby shower for Baby T & I. Themed bed & bath, the invitation was too cute with animals showering and a tribute to my 3 heart announcement. From the minute we walked in the door, Kara's house was decorated with loads of fun stuff for our baby to be. Sweet bibs strung and hung down the banister with a monkey topped diaper cake in the entryway. UK onesies pinned across the window to get Baby T acquainted with the NCAA Basketball National Champions hung in the living room. A glass bowl filled with all sorts of rubber bath duckies adorned the kitchem amidst the delicious ensemble of food. Chicken salad sandwiches, gourmet cheese & crackers, fresh fruit slices, and cream cheese & chocolate stuffed strawberries. Don't even get me started about the candy buffet...in true gender neutral fashion, candies of all types in pink, blue, yellow, & green. From M&Ms to York patties to Reese cups to cupcakes, this momma got her sugar fix. And generously wrapped baby gifts for our bundle of joy.

Our family & friends showered our baby with car seats, swings, bath essentials, bedtime rituals, and so much love. I was truly amazed at the thoughtfulness and generosity of the wonderful people in our lives. I can't wait to welcome our child into the world and introduce him/her to such an amazing group of people.

3 1/2 months and counting until our due date...

Weekend Treats: Family Fun Edition

It was a Thompson/Corrigan weekend with two event-filled gatherings on Saturday & Sunday. My MIL turned 60 on April 19th so we threw her a surprise 60th birthday party Saturday evening. Decked out in pink (her fave color), guests gathered at Casa de Corrigan to stun the birthday girl. Appetizers & drinks were enjoyed by all...well I guzzled the bottled water, but the other guests got their drink on.

Sunday morning we celebrated our nephew, Kendahl's, baptism during a ceremony at St. Bernards. Ryan & I were proud to become his Godparents as he enters into his faith journey with the Lord. Babies are so precious and fragile so to see them blessed before God in the Catholic church brings such peace & simplicity to my heart.
