A Thompson Fall: Roast S’mores on a Fire

A beautiful fall day called for taking advantage of the fall evening with s'mores. I snagged this little table top s'mores tray last year during the "lock down" and it is one of my favorite finds. It makes for an easy set up {and clean up!} plus very convenient for a pop-up night of dessert.

Apparently last fall we used all of the burning gels so we went super old school & innovative in using a long lighter to "roast" the mellows. They tasted just as delicious and the kids got a good chuckle out of it.

There is something sweet about my babies with wet hair, snuggled in fall jammies, enjoying s'mores in the backyard. A great fall tradition and a special Saturday night for these cuties!

Kickin into Six: Celebrating Brighton’s Birthday

Nothing says fun like taking 8 little boys down to the U of L Men’s Soccer game and watching them go wild! We had a little tailgate with pizza & snacks & festive cupcakes on the green grass. Little boys running around being boys was such a fun thing to experience. Kicking soccer balls and making up games & rules as they go along.

Entering the game was as sweet as could be. Chanting St. X until they realized that we were at the soccer game instead of the high school football game 🤣 They quickly made the adjustment to saying Cardinals while holding up their posters and pressing their faces up to the sidelines.

Their own soccer game ensued over by the playground in between bounces in the bounce house. They took on some older boys and I was amazed at their zest for teamwork.

The evening became complete when they made it on the big screen and TV with their very loud cheering horns leading the charge & energy of the stadium.

A special night celebrating a special boy that we will never forget!

Brighton Kevin: 6 Years Old

 Dearest Brighton Kevin,

My sweet boy you are SIX years old and I can’t help but feel gratitude. It has been three years since I stopped holding my breath on your health scares. It’s been six years since that glorious day you were born a happy, healthy baby boy defying all the odds. Your story is full of God’s grace and for that I will always be eternally grateful.

You are a vibrant boy with an old soul; wise in ways that can’t be learned but are inherit of who you are. You are truly a “Bright” light as your name suggests.

You aren’t a stranger to anyone, and friendship is one of your greatest strengths. You’re kind and empathetic and genuinely engaged in your surroundings.

You have a love for soccer and golf that encompasses your spirit. A team oriented sport that allows you to work with others in the most fun ways. And an individual sport where size doesn’t matter and your ability to see the big picture drives your success.

Kindergarten is treating you well and you are enjoying seeing old friends while making new ones. You’re learning so much and I love to see you grow.

Life suits you my son. Laughter and joy and lots of “I love you Mom” fill your daily life. I hope it always remains that way. You deserve the best of the world.

I love you!

Love,

Mommy

A Thompson Fall: Sip Apple Cider

Mulberry Orchard is one of our absolute favorites for fall. It’s a cute little farm out in Shelbyville that has sunflower fields, a cafe, barnyard shop, antique tractors & a slew of exciting rides, slides & mazes.

T

heir food is unique & delicious; the perfect mix of home cookin' & foodie trends. The kids love the apple cider popsicles as a refreshing treat in between corn maze runs and tractor tire races. And of course feeding the baby goats is their favorite activity to end the visit.
