If I've learned one thing in my
almost 29 years, it is that life is too short. And if I could only pass on one piece of advice to my
unborn children, it would be to celebrate each day.
Celebrate anything. Celebrate everything.
So I found it quite fitting to join my mom and sister in attending the Ryan's
34th annual Groundhog Day party. The couple, Julie & Kevin, have been celebrating the hog and his shadow for a number of years clearly. With each year, the crowd gets a little bigger and a bit more rowdy. It started with about 30 people and has grown to 300 these days.
The collection of groundhog day t-shirts, poster board fact sheets,
Groundhog Day movie on permanent repeat, groundhog mascot, shootin' groundhog game, and groundhog food & bev have also grown to accommodate the company.

While Tay joked that the party would be for 80 year olds
(despite the fact that our parents are not even 60 yet and don't make it a habit of chilling at nursing homes), we almost backed out last minute as we pulled up to the festivities. But once we were in, there was no turning back. She threw back a glass of wine, and we went straight to the shootin' game...after munching on several groundhog cookies ;)

Check out our horrible attempts at catching these little groundhogs...
All in all, a fabulous party to attend which ultimately reminded me to celebrate any and every holiday. Who's ready for President's Day?
