Brighton Kevin: 4 Years Old

Dearest Brighton Kevin,

There are so many emotions surrounding your 4th birthday today! I can hardly believe that my third baby is so big and that my little miracle baby is growing beautifully. I will never forget the struggles that we faced together during pregnancy & your first year of life. I appreciate the time with you more because of it!

You are wise beyond 4 in many ways. Part of that being the third child, but part of that is just who you are my son. You are acutely aware of everyone and everything. You have yet to meet a stranger and constantly greet people by name no matter where we go. You are a friend to all and that is a gift that I hope remains with you forever.

This year, you competed on the swim team at HCC for the first time! You practiced and swam in every meet including City Championships...where you and your relay (the sweetest group of 3 year old boys!) won a medal. The pride on your face was priceless and I hope that you always remember that experience.

You are back to school and a butterfly again! But you have also added a 4th day as a Fish. Your buddy Wells' mom teaches the class and you are meeting new friends with the extra day of fun. You truly love school and it brings a special joy to your day.

You are back in soccer and loving it. It is a full hour which involves "game" play for part of the class. You are learning to score goals and really getting into the team spirit. You also advanced to the group tennis clinic this year at LIRC. You are loving meeting more people and learning more skills. Golf continues to be your favorite sport thanks to your weekly lessons with Coach Katie at HCC. You are enjoying hitting your driver, chipping, and putting on the greens.

You are typically a great listener which makes parenting you a joy most days. You are often telling me, "Mommy you're the best!" or "I love you Mommy." It melts my heart to know how loving and empathetic you are. You adore your siblings and cannot wait for Adelaide & Aspen to get home from school. You truly love when they are around, but you also love being the big brother helper to Salem which is too sweet.

You are a delight in every way little Brighty-Boo! I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for you, and I will cherish the memories we make together. You are my sunshine on so many cloudy days!

I  love you!

Love,

Mommy
