Salem Lucille: 8 Years Old

 Dearest Salem Lucille,

How can you be eight years old?! You are in the second grade and things feel like they’re flying by so fast. No longer a little baby, but a bright, beautiful young lady.

You are the perfect mix of sweet and sassy. You still get up every morning and greet me with a smile and a hug and most things you do, you are a breeze to deal with and always willing to lend a helping hand.

You have transitioned schools beautifully… Making friends, doing your schoolwork with pride, and being a true leader!

Starting your fourth year of competitive dance, you are in six dances! You are back to doing a solo to Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know?, Do a trio with your friends, Stella & Hunter Kate, and then four group dances. You truly enjoy the choreography As well as the time spent with your teachers and dance mates.

You continue to be a bookworm… Reading every single day! You love to challenge yourself and even play “secret reader” to your stuffed animals.

This year, you could not wait until October 1st~ Coming down bright & early to remind me that it was finally your birthday month! You helped put up the Halloween decorations and enjoyed being a big helper.

You are so kind and sweet. You love your big brothers and sister fiercely. You were always looking to encourage them, but also show them your latest tricks.

You are our rainbow Halloween baby forever!

I love you!

Love,

Mommy

A Thompson Fall: Watch a Cozy Movie

To wrap up fall break, we opted for a cozy movie night on the couch. The kids chose Bad Guys 2~ ironically Aspen has been reading Bad Guys Halloween Heist so it was perfect timing.

Cozied up on the couch with Halloween jammies and blankets, we enjoyed the family movie. And no movie night is complete without a little dessert… So we pulled out the pumpkin ice cream sandwiches and the pumpkin spice chocolate balls to enjoy!

A Thompson Fall: Drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Nothing says for quite like pumpkin! We have come to love, pumpkin bread, pumpkin, spice, lattes, pumpkin, chocolate, chip, muffins, and Pumpkin pie.

So on a lazy Sunday, we enjoyed a pumpkin loaf and pumpkin steamers from Starbucks. It was the perfect afternoon treat to round out the first Sunday in October!

A Thompson Fall: Make a Pot of Chili

There are lots of things associated with fall… especially when it comes to food! Pumpkin spiced lattes to apple pie to chili~ We always love to use the changing of the seasons, as an excuse to treat ourselves!

So when we had a light Saturday with minimal commitments, we took advantage of the time at home. The kids helped me put up all of the Halloween decorations. The boys played football in the side yard with neighbors. And I made a nice pot of chili for dinner.

We had traditional noodles as well as football shaped pasta tapped off with the cutest football cookies from Paul’s.

It was the perfect fall Saturday day to spend with family!

A Thompson Fall: Cheer at a Football Game

Friday night lights...or Saturday or Sunday night lights. Really any time during fall is a good time to cheer at a football game.

Adelaide is in her 2nd season of flag football and she is loving it. She plays offense and defense. However, she enjoys the camaraderie with her teammates the most!

My nephew, Bishop, is in his 2nd year of playing football for the St. X Tigers. We made it out to the home season opener and the kids had a blast! Running around, hanging with friends, cheering for their cousin. It was a great way to conclude a full week of school.
