Nashville: A Country Weekend

Over MLK, we spent the weekend celebrating Kendahl's birthday and visiting Taylor in Nashville. Our first girls trip with the little ones: mom, Kendahl, Collins, Amanda, Taylor, Adelaide, & I.

Friday we started off the morning with brunch at Noshville which was absolutely delish. A good southern breakfast to give us some energy. Then we played tourist and hit up the Country Music Hall of Fame. It was neat to see how country music has evolved especially the outrageous getups! After a full day on the go, we relaxed at Tay's apartment and enjoyed a casual dinner.

Saturday we headed to the Corner Pub to cheer on our CATS! Two preggos accessorized with two toddlers makes for a great scene and story in a sports bar.  Our little cheerleaders were so warn out from their sleepover that they slept through the whole second half amidst the screaming fans!

With a victory under our belt, we walked around downtown Nashville shopping for cowgirl boots and fun country flare.

Sunday morning we had brunch at Jackson's to end our fabulous girls trip. Sitting up at the bar counter, Adelaide & Colin's thought they were such big girls!

We really had a great time spending time with the girls. Adelaide & Cooper couldn't have been any cuter. They screamed with excitement the minute they saw one another and played non-stop all weekend. They would wake up ironically at the same time, smile, and say "hi" from across the beds. Then Collins would hop over to our bed for morning snuggles. The girls had "pillow fights" at night aka they each took a decorative bolster pillow and ran around laughing as they would run into each other and fall on the pillows. It was precious and funny and exhausting all at once.

Looking forward to making this a yearly tradition with my wonderful family!

Toddlers in Tutus

Adelaide & her best friend Caileigh just started taking "ballet" class at Kidville in Mount Kisco. It may or may not be the sweetest thing ever.  They stretch their little piggies, tip toe on the bar, plea in first position, and twirl around while looking at themselves in the mirror. Well, that's what they're supposed to be doing anyways.

But 17 month olds have a mind of their own so Adelaide is usually doing a combo of what she should be doing and running aimlessly around getting into trouble.

Nonetheless, the girls look adorable. Plus they indulge in tea time at the end of class (apple juice & cookies) which makes everyone happy!

Prisoners: A Movie Review

The snow and frigid temps kept us in the first weekend back from Christmas vacation. Well also the exhaustion from the holidays and travel and cold bug we'd all been fighting. After putting away the last of the Christmas decorations and tucking Adelaide in bed, Ryan & I rented Prisoners.

I love thrillers and anything suspenseful making Prisoners no exception. We were both on the seat of our pants the entire movie. Father Keller (Hugh Jackman) is on a mission to find his daughter who has vanished along side her friend. After Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) releases the main suspect, Keller takes things into his own hands. Torturing the teenaged Alex (Paul Dano) and involving the other missing girls parents Nancy & Franklin (Viola Davis/Terrance Howard). His wife turns to medication to sleep while his teenage son realizes that Keller is losing control. All the while Detective Loki is working tirelessly to capture the bad guy and keep Keller from doing anything stupid.

If you love thrillers, mysteries, and keep-you-on-your-toes, then Prisoners is for you!

Winter Getaway: Bretton Woods, NH

This past weekend we headed north to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire for some winter fun. The temps were chilly when we arrived but that didn't stop us from getting cozy and playing. Mount Washington Resort is much like The Greenbrier in West Virginia. It was pure bliss for the little miss who spent hours roaming the hotel, back & forth running the halls and climbing the large staircases. Still decorated for Christmas, the magnificent lights made it even more magical.

With three places to stay (the main hotel, the Lodge, & Bretton Arms Inn) we were able to dine at all three as each had their own unique touches. Our romantic table for 2 breakfast at the Inn was fabulous as were our dinners at Stickney's and the Main Dining Room.

The spa was perfection as I treated myself to a mother-to-be massage while Ryan snowboarded and Adelaide played at the Babes in the Woods nursery. I also used the state-of-the-art workout facilities twice which really made me feel like I was getting a vacation :)

If you ever get up to NH, Bretton Woods is the perfect family place or couples retreat. Plus Bode Miller the famous Olympian skiier is a resident so maybe you can get some pointers on the slopes!

Happy Winter!
